Deepest gratitude & appreciation

Assalamu'alaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatu..

Alhamdulillah, Refuge Zero Aid has come to an end. I hope everyone has enjoyed themselves and gained a valuable, memorable experience through the 4 days.

A million thanks to the participants (you guys were definitely a great bunch!!!), the facilitators (the spirit of the camp lies in you guys!!) and the helpers (we couldn't have pulled through without you guys!!).

Amidst all the fun and laughter, there were several hiccups here and there and therefore, we apologise for all our shortcomings. Feel free to feedback to us with your honest and constructive comments on how we can improve the way we carry out things.

I hope all that we have gone through will stay as precious memories throughout our journey in life, and on behalf of the committee, I wish each and everyone of you ALL THE BEST in embarking on your academic life!

Wassalamu'alaikum.

Regards,
Zuraimi

REFUGE ZERO AID

SALAMS TO ALL!!

It is the time of the year when we welcome the incoming undergraduates of NUS a.k.a the freshies to the school!! Once again, NUS Muslim Society (NUSMS) and Malay Language Society (PBMUKS) are collaborating to organise a freshmen orientation camp (FOC).

This year's FOC will adopt the theme: "refugee". Below is a sneak preview on what the theme is all about:

Under the rule of a despotic leader, great destruction was widespread throughout the country, dividing its people into 6 different factions. The future is bleak. Each of the factions is striving to take over the tyrant for the betterment of the country. Will the factions work together?? Or will they fight each other for that top position?? All this is in YOUR hands. YOU decide the outcome for REFUGE ZERO AID.

However, fret not. This camp is not going to be torturous! Rest assured that it's gonna be fun and exciting!! This is the opportunity to establish friendships among the freshies and the seniors. At the same time, get to know more about NUS - the place soon-to-be your second home!

What are u guys waiting for? Register by downloading the appropriate forms which can be found in the sidebar on this blog. The procedure can be found under "Frequently Asked Questions".

Signing off,
Zuraimi
Publicity Officer.

FIRST DAY IN CAMP

Assalamu'alaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatu.

First & foremost, I'm very sorry for this late post. It should have been posted a few days ago but due to unforeseen circumstances, it got delayed. I apologise for my shortcomings.

Well, several participants have asked regarding the reporting procedure for the first day of camp. Please take note on the following pointers!

1) Report to NUS Raffles Hall at 9am.

2) To get to NUS Raffles Hall, take bus service 96 from Clementi Bus Interchange, which is just beside Clementi Mrt station. Alight at the bus stop after the Central Library building (which can be seen on the right side). There will be usherers at the bus stop to guide participants to NUS Raffles Hall.

3) The list of things to bring for the camp can be found under the "Frequently Asked Questions" at the sidebar of the blog. Remember to bring your Indemnity Form, and for those few who have yet to make the payment for the camp, please do so by Sunday or latest when you report on Monday.

4) Participants will stay at NUS Raffles Hall itself. Rooms will be allocated to participants. Each room can fit 3 - 4 people.

5) Breakfast will not be provided on the first day. So have your breakfast before reporting for camp.

Those who have further queries can email to us.

Once again, I'm sorry for this late post. I hope all the doubts have been cleared. See you guys in camp!! Have a nice day!!

GOOD NEWS!!

Registration, which is supposed to be clsoed today, has been extended till 4th July 2008, Friday. This is to accomodate to those who still want to sign up for the camp. Hurry up as we have very limited space left!!

If you are still deciding if you should sign up for RefugeZeroAid, this will probably help you make the ultimate (positive, hopefully!) decision.

And if you have signed up for the camp, this will help you in your bid to get your friends to sign up too.

Here is a brief overview of THE PROGRAMME:

- Campus Tour: A tour around school to help participants recognise landmarks in school, including the mussolahs in the different faculties and the Halal Food Stalls in the different canteens.

- Cash Me If You Can: Experience the Campus from a different ‘light’ while on a race to stop embezzlement in action.

- Southern Ridges Trail: Did you know that you can walk from NUS all the way to Vivocity continually surrounded by wonderful greenery?? Take this relaxing walk through the newly opened nature trail with newfound friends. Highlights include the scenic HortPark, Forest Walk and Henderson Waves, and not to mention interesting games interspersed in between!

- Water Games: Just have good CLEAN fun with water! Don’t forget your dark-coloured clothes!

- Ministerial Dialogue : Ever had any burning questions for the leaders of our community but never got the chance to ask? Ever wondered what is it exactly that those big people do? Always wondered how you can contribute to the community? Join us in this engaging discussion with a panel of ministers, and you won’t ever have to wonder again (...or at least not for some time).

THE POINT IS: You are sure to have good, clean, enriching FUN from in this camp!
